Every business holds data and each piece of data has its own value to the overall operation of that business. Just as people go through life acquiring belongings, businesses collect and store data. At home, every now and again, it is good to have a good ‘clear out’ and take stock of your belongings, otherwise you run out of space and things become cluttered and disorganised. The same applies to the data management processes of any business.

With the GDPR compliance date fast approaching (25th May 2018), more emphasis than ever before will be on the documentation of data collection, storage, use, retention and deletion. We’ve put together our top tips on how to organise your data. Carrying out a detailed and thorough data audit is a great first step and should be part of a wider IT governance review.
